Topographic and Hypsometric Map of Brussels and its Surroundings

This map corresponds to the "Carte topographique et hypsométrique de Bruxelles et ses environs", drawn around 1858 at a scale of 1:20,000 by Joseph Huvenne (draftsman, topographer) and engraved by J. Ongers. It covers the Brussels region from Neder-Over-Heembeek to Drogenbos and from Berchem-Sainte-Agathe to Auderghem.

Statement
This map is a photomechanical reproduction of an original document dating from around 1858, preserved at the Royal National Library (printed by the Military Geographic Institute in 1975 and published by the French Commission for Culture of the Brussels Agglomeration). It is based on plans and documents from the Geographical Establishment of Brussels, founded by Ph. Vandermaelen.
