Ce rapport relate la qualité de l’eau destinée à la consommation humaine, distribuée durant la période 2017-2018-2019 en Région de Bruxelles-Capitale, dans le but d’informer les consommateurs d’eau distribuée. L'Arrêté relatif à la qualité de l'eau distribuée par réseau constitue le cadre légal. Cet arrêté fixe les critères de qualité auxquels doit répondre l'eau et détermine les obligations du fournisseur d'eau. Comme l'impose l'arrêté, le rapport porte au minimum sur tous les approvisionnements individuels en eau de plus de 1000 m³ par jour en moyenne ou à plus de 5000 personnes. En Région de Bruxelles-Capitale, un seul fournisseur d’eau répond à ces conditions, VIVAQUA. Le rapport se limite donc à l’eau qu’ils distribuent. L'eau destinée à la consommation humaine est appelée eau distribuée par réseau public, eau du robinet ou eau potable. Dit rapport beschrijft de kwaliteit van het voor menselijke consumptie bestemd water verdeeld in de periode 2017-2018-2019 in het Brussels Hoofdstedelijk Gewest en heeft als doel de consumenten van leidingwater te informeren. Het Besluit betreffende de kwaliteit van het leidingwater vormt het wettelijk kader. Dit besluit geeft de kwaliteitseisen weer waaraan het water moet voldoen en bepaalt de verplichtingen van de waterleverancier. Het rapport heeft, zoals opgelegd in het besluit, minimaal betrekking op alle individuele watervoorzieningen van gemiddeld meer dan 1000 m³ per dag of aan meer dan 5000 personen. In het Brussels Hoofdstedelijk Gewest is er maar één waterleverancier actief die aan deze voorwaarden voldoet, VIVAQUA. Het rapport beperkt zich dus tot het water dat door hen wordt verdeeld. Het voor menselijke consumptie bestemd water wordt ook wel (openbaar) leidingwater, kraantjeswater of drinkwater genoemd.
